Hello, young learners! Welcome back to Primary 2 National Values Education. In our previous lesson, we learned about Lesson on Duties of Community Leaders and the Reward for Primary 2. Today, we’re going to learn about The Community.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
- Mention two types of community they know.
- List the type of people living in the community.
The Community
A community is a group of people who live in the same area and share common interests, values, and goals. It’s like a big family where everyone helps each other.
Types Of Community
There are many different types of communities, and they are:
- Rural Community: These communities are located in the countryside, often with farms, fields, and forests. Some of the people who live in rural communities include farmers, villagers, and agricultural workers.
- Urban Community: These communities are located in cities, with lots of buildings, shops, and businesses. Some of the people who live in urban communities include doctors, teachers, office workers, and shopkeepers.
- Suburban Community: These communities are located on the outskirts of cities, with a mix of urban and rural characteristics. Residents may include professionals, workers, and some agricultural activities.
- Coastal Community: These communities are located near the coast, with access to the ocean. Some of the people who live in coastal communities include fishermen, boat operators, and seafood processors.
- Mountainous Community: These communities are located in mountainous areas, with steep slopes and valleys. Some of the people who live in mountainous communities include mountain guides, hikers, and small-scale farmers.
Evaluation Questions
Now that you’ve learned about The Community, let’s see if you can answer these questions:

- What are some of the people who live in a rural community?
- What are some of the people who live in an urban community?
