Lesson Content

Dignity of Labour

The concept of “Dignity of Labour” highlights the respect for all decent and legitimate work. All work is valued, irrespective of type or worker.

What is work?

Work is any effort to achieve a purpose or earn a living; activities done to provide income.

God wants us to work.

God wants us to use our abilities and talents for meaningful work, earning an honest living and bringing Him glory.

Reasons why we work.

• Providing for ourselves and others: work provides basic needs (food,shelter,clothing) and supports families.
• Contributing to society: Work creates goods and services benefiting society.
• Personal fulfillment: work offers purpose, accomplishment, and satisfaction.

Real-life examples that depict God’s desire for man to work.

Proverbs 6:6-11 uses the ant’s tireless work as a model of hard work and diligence, reminding us to work hard and use our abilities wisely. God has provided us with the means to work.

Differentiation
